Why dismantling is skilled work
Dismantling shelving is not simply the reverse of building it. Components can get stuck, safety pins can break, and uprights that are loosened incorrectly can be damaged, making them no longer reusable. Moreover, shelving is temporarily unstable during dismantling, which poses a safety risk if not done correctly.
The steps in a relocation
- Inventory: note which components you have and what condition they are in. This tells you what is reusable and what needs replacing.
- Emptying: the shelving must be completely empty before dismantling begins.
- Controlled dismantling: the components are loosened in the correct order and carefully sorted.
- Transport: uprights and beams are safely packed and transported to prevent damage.
- Rebuilding: at the new location, the shelving is rebuilt and anchored according to EN 15512.
- Inspection: a final check guarantees that everything is safe and correctly positioned.
